To provide safe and compliant service to our customers, we follow the prescription verification requirements under the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act (FCLCA) and applicable regulations. In accordance with these requirements, we must verify your contact lens prescription before your order can be processed.
We offer the following convenient options for prescription verification during or after checkout:
Option 1: Email Us a Copy of Your Valid Prescription
You may send us a clear photo or scanned copy of your valid contact lens prescription issued by a licensed eye care professional.
Once your prescription has been reviewed and approved, we may keep it securely on file for future purchases, so you may not need to submit it again for subsequent orders.
Please note that providing an invalid, expired, incomplete, or inaccurate prescription may result in delays, cancellation of your order, or refusal of fulfillment.
When submitting your prescription, please include:
- Order Number
- Your Name
- A clear photo or scan of your written prescription
Please send your prescription to: serviceQXYMellon@gmail.com with suggested subject title: prescription #YourOrderNumber
Option 2: Provide Your Eye Care Professional’s Information
You may also choose to have us verify your prescription directly with your eye care professional.
We will contact your eye care professional to confirm your prescription details. Under applicable law, your eye care professional has 8 business hours to respond to our verification request. If no response is received within that period, your prescription may be considered verified by passive confirmation, and we may proceed with processing and shipping your order.
OD: OD stands for oculus dexter, the Latin phrase for “right eye”.
OS: OS stands for oculus sinister, the Latin phrase for “left eye”.
If both the left and right eyes have the same diagnosis and prescription information, the abbreviation “OU” is used instead, or “ocular uniter,” meaning both eyes.
Sphere (SPH): This indicates the amount of lens power, measured in diopters (D), prescribed to correct myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness). The spherical power of a lens is indicated with a plus sign (+) for hyperopia and a minus sign (-) for myopia. Unibling only supplies Myopia lenses.
Cylinder (CYL): This indicates the amount of lens power for astigmatism. If no cylinder power is noted, either you’ve no astigmatism or your astigmatism is so slight that it is not necessary to correct it with your eyeglasses or lenses.
Axis: This describes the degree and direction of your astigmatism. The axis is a figure which determines the angle of the correction needed to see clearly, measured in degrees from 1 to 180.
Base Curve (BC): The base curve determines what type of fit is required for the lens to meet the curve of your eye. This is usually written in millimeters or sometimes with the words: flat, median, or steep.
Diameter (DIA): The diameter of a lens determines what length of width that best fits your eye. It measures the width of a lens in millimeters, from end to end.
